Some people like to always bypass the clutch switch, however this being my first manual vehicle, as well as the possibility of the wife driving it, I decided I’d rather have a “selectable” method of over-riding the clutch switch. Per the FSM of a 1997 TJ, there is a by-pass connector to move the clutch switch to, which is basically a short. I didn’t want to have to move the connector back and forth so I decided to wire in a switch.

I ordered a switch similar to this one:

I can’t find the link for the one I purchased, only things similar. I made sure it was a 6-pin single throw switch so I could easily wire the loop without testing continuity for which wire is which. It is wired like this:
